Inspired by the winner of PETA’s 2017 Sexiest Vegan Next Door contest—San Antonio firefighter Aaron Gaunt—PETA set out to find the hottest vegan firefighters from around the globe. The result: Fourteen sizzling fire-rescue workers who prove that there’s nothing sexier than a hero with a heart of gold. See the full list here.
The honorees include Eric Taylor of Milwaukee, who says vegan meals are the fuel that he needs as a firefighter and a mixed martial arts fighter. In the Chicago suburbs, husband-and-wife team Jim and Carolyn Gray prove that the family that goes vegan together—and fights fires together—stays together, with enough energy left over to complete ultramarathons. Overseas, when Chris Foott isn’t at his firehouse in Manchester, England, he can be found leading a local animal rights organization. And in Texas, family man and firefighter Jason Gold, who has been helping with Hurricane Harvey relief efforts, has inspired his wife and daughter to follow his vegan lead.
“There’s no limit to how smoking-hot, strong, and sweet vegans can be, and these sexy firefighters are living proof,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “The honorees in PETA’s Hottest Vegan Firefighters feature are saving animals’ lives every day, whether they’re dashing into a burning building to rescue a trapped dog or simply sitting down for a delicious veggie burger.”
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—offers free vegan starter kits for everyone who wants to be a lifesaver for animals by going vegan, just like their local firefighting heroes.
