PETA’s team of rescuers—trained in animal emergencies and equipped with a boat—is in the Port Arthur area taking animals to safety and ready to act quickly to help others in need. To that end, PETA is asking everyone to tweet @PETA with any information about stranded animals in the area who need help.

Today, PETA rescuers brought three families—two of them with companion animals—to safety. The group rescued six dogs, including two who were left in a backyard with floodwater up to their necks and two who were left crated in the kitchen of a flooding house, as well as an armadillo who was stranded on a small patch of land around a flooded neighborhood.
