“Meat interrupts your sex life!” That’s the message on a new PETA billboard that was just erected over an interstate in Fayetteville and shows a pig lying in bed between a disappointed-looking couple. The ad aims to remind residents in one of the country’s top pork-producing state that artery-clogging meat and dairy foods can have a major impact on what happens—or doesn’t happen—in the bedroom.

The billboard is located on the east side of U.S. Route 301 facing south, nearly a half mile south of North Carolina Highway 24.

“The saturated fat in meat, eggs, and dairy foods can cause high cholesterol, which can slow blood flow to all the body’s organs, not just the heart,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA’s cheeky billboard will have North Carolina diners swapping that deadly date-night bacon for a vibrant veggie burger in a heartbeat.”

Whereas the World Health Organization has put processed meats such as bacon, sausages, and hot dogs in the same category of cancer risk as cigarettes, low-fat vegan meals have been shown to address the physical causes involved in the vast majority of impotence cases, including high cholesterol, obesity, diabetes, prostate cancer or inflammation, and hormonal imbalances. And of course, each person who goes vegan saves more than 100 animals every year from daily suffering and terrifying deaths in today’s industrialized meat, egg, and dairy industries.

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—is running a similar ad featuring a cow in Texas, the country’s top beef-producing state, and another featuring a chicken in Georgia, the top poultry-producing state.
