We Collected the Most Glorious Photos of Vegan Bacon From the Internet

We’re gonna let you in on a little secret. If bacon wasn’t flavored with smoke and spices (which are vegan by the way), it wouldn’t taste like bacon. You can easily take foods such as mushrooms, rice paper, tofu, or coconut, smoke them, add spices and healthy fats, and cook them up! Voilà—all of the delicious taste without eating animal flesh. We mined the internet for the most gorgeous vegan bacon photos and videos to prove our point.

Choose compassion, and check out these undeniably scrumptious photos—and try not to drool:

This crispy, mouthwatering slice of vegan bacon sandwiched between two juicy pieces of vegan fried chicken is EVERYTHING.

The dream breakfast.

Look at this thin, crispy rice paper bacon.

Wowee. No words.

Meaty oyster mushrooms are perfect for making vegan bacon.

Shiitakes are great, too.

Research has shown that meat doesn’t do a body good, and vegans are less likely to develop heart disease, cancer, obesity, and other health problems—not to mention that the meat industry means pure hell for pigs and their babies. Mother pigs spend most of their lives in tiny gestation crates, which are so small that the animals are unable to turn around or even lie down comfortably. They’re repeatedly impregnated until they’re slaughtered.

Pigs are extremely clever animals who form complex social networks and have excellent memories. They are naturally very clean and avoid soiling their living areas. When given the chance, pigs that aren’t raised to be eaten spend hours playing, lying in the sun, and exploring their surroundings with their powerful sense of smell.

To learn more about why you should ditch your bacon, check out our top 10 reasons not to eat pigs.
