Citizens Bank Park nabbed the final spot on PETA’s Top 10 Vegan-Friendly Ballparks list for its tasty variety of animal-free fare, including soft tacos, Farmer’s Market Grain Bowls, and three-bean chili.
“The Phillies just made the cut for PETA’s animal-friendly major league,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “Citizens Bank Park hit a vegan grand slam with its cruelty-free specialties like salty Bavarian pretzels and sweet Nomoo cookies, which will satisfy even the most discerning fans.”
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—notes that going vegan would afford baseball players and their fans the time to enjoy more ballgames, since eating meat and other animal-derived foods has been conclusively linked to a higher risk of suffering from heart disease, strokes, diabetes, obesity, and cancer. In addition, every vegan saves more than 100 animals a year from a terrifying death in today’s industrialized meat, egg, and dairy industries.
Citizens Bank Park will receive a framed certificate from PETA. To view the complete rankings, please see PETA’s blog post about its list of the 2017 Top 10 Vegan-Friendly Ballparks.
