“St. Patrick’s Day, like any day, is the perfect time to go green. Everyone can help the environment by kicking meat, eggs, and dairy to the curb,” says PETA Vice President Colleen O’Brien. “PETA will be raising a glass this Friday to saving the Earth through vegan meals.”
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—notes that the United Nations has concluded that a global shift toward a vegan diet is vital if we are to combat the worst effects of climate change. In addition, everyone who goes vegan saves more than 100 animals every year from daily suffering and a terrifying death in today’s industrialized meat, egg, and dairy industries.
