Wedding Is Off! Couple Won’t Tie the Knot Until Runaway Dog Is Found
People want that special day when they tie the knot to go off without a hitch. But Trendee King and her fiancé, James Galley, knew it would be impossible until their animal companion, Theo, returned to be their true best man.
Theo went missing on February 13, when he reportedly ran out of his sitter’s house. King was shopping for a wedding dress when her fiancé called to break the news. She booked the first flight she could from Los Angeles back to their home of San José, and since then, the couple has worked around the clock to find him.
Searching for Theo became so intense that the couple knew they had to postpone planning their August wedding.
“There’s just no way I’m going to plan a wedding right now,” King told The Mercury News. “It’s impossible, it’s a full-time job (searching for Theo). We go for 12 hours, 14 hours some days.”
They’ve placed more than 800 posters in San José and all the way to Santa Cruz, and they’re offering a $3,500 reward for Theo’s safe return. The two (hopefully) soon-to-be newlyweds even hired a pet detective and placed newspaper ads.
“You’d go to the ends of the Earth. There’s nothing that you wouldn’t do because they’re family.”
The 1-year-old Brussels griffon is on a regimen of antibiotics for an abscess, which means the sooner they find him, the better.
Support online and off has been stupendous, but so far, unfortunately, there has been no good information. King receives hundreds of calls a day, but the false leads are stressful and disheartening. However, she still checks out alleged sightings “to make sure it’s not him.”
“I won’t give up until he’s home,” King said. “Most of the time they’re close to where they were lost. I just think it’s persistence and getting as many eyes on it as possible. We have faith.”
King stated that Theo has a snaggletooth, long legs, and a flat face. He was last seen wearing a blue-and-red collar with a red harness. Anyone with credible information on Theo or his whereabouts can call 310-663-2652.
