Two years ago, singer-songwriter Skylar Stecker and her mom, Kara, made a New Year’s resolution to go vegan—and in a new video for peta2, PETA’s youth division, the pair open up their fridge to fans and share some of their most-loved vegan meals and snacks.
The “Let It Show” singer, who stopped eating meat six years ago, gushes about her must-have treat on tour—”super-convenient” Uncrustables—while Kara points out her favorite vegan chicken nuggets, saying, “These are a million times better, healthier. You’re not hurting anything.”
She adds, “We’re all raised to be kind and to understand and think about other people. And I think that as parents, it’s our responsibility to listen to our kids and, when they ask questions, to give them … real answers.”
Skylar joins peta2—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—in encouraging everyone to check out the group’s “Guide to Going Vegan,” a great resource for teens and parents interested in trying more vegan meals in the new year. More information is available here.
