San Francisco International Airport has rejected PETA’s ads promoting kindness to pigs. As you may recall, the group asked to run the ads—which show a cute pig’s face next to the words “I’m ME, Not MEAT! See the Individual“—in honor of LiLou, the “therapy pig” who offers comfort to travelers at the airport.
“PETA’s ads drive home the point that when it comes to feeling pain and fear, a pig is no different from a human being,” says PETA Senior Vice President Lisa Lange. “Everyone who has ever met a playful, curious, intelligent pig like LiLou should lose their lunch at the thought of eating a sausage or a piece of bacon.”
PETA’s motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat,” and more information about the group’s request is available here.
