PETA Seeks Public’s Help in Identifying Culprit Who Abandoned Dying Dog in Yonkers

On the evening of Thursday, November 17, an emaciated and unresponsive dog was found wrapped in jackets in a grassy area, across the street from 81 Van Cortlandt Park Ave. Despite veterinarians’ efforts, the pit bull mix—whose hips, ribs, and spine were visible through his skin—never regained consciousness.
The SPCA of Westchester is investigating the incident but has yet to make any arrests in connection with this case, prompting PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—to offer a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction on cruelty charges of the person or persons responsible for the crime.
“This dog endured the heartbreaking agony of being starved to the point of emaciation, thrown away, and left to die on the side of the road,” says PETA Vice President Colleen O’Brien. “PETA urges anyone who may have witnessed this dog’s abandonment to come forward immediately so that his abuser can be held accountable.”
