Tasty Tailgate: Free Vegan Food to Be Dished Up at Harvard-Yale Football Game

What:    One of Harvard’s biggest events is about to get even better: peta2, PETA’s youth division, has partnered with the university’s alumni association to veganize the Recent Grad Tailgate at the Harvard-Yale football game. The group will have a tent set up to grill and pass out 500 free delicious vegan Field Roast burgers.

Where:    Soldiers Field Athletic Area, 65 N. Harvard St. (next to Jordan Field, near Soldiers Field Road), Boston

When:    Saturday, November 19, 11 a.m.

“Thanks to the wide array of mouthwatering vegan meats available, it’s never been easier to tackle cravings while leaving animals off your plate—even while tailgating before the big game,” says PETA Director of International Youth Outreach Ryan Huling. “peta2 is calling on caring people everywhere to switch to delicious plant-based meals that boost our health, help animals, and protect the environment.”

peta2—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—notes in its 2016 Vegan Report Card that demand for plant-based meals is skyrocketing on college campuses, and the number of schools offering at least one daily vegan option has more than doubled over the last two years, to 62 percent. In addition, 9 percent of colleges now have an all-vegan dining station and four colleges—including the University of California–San Diego and American University—have all-vegan dining facilities.
