She’s a renowned vegan lifestyle coach and best-selling author of Main Street Vegan: Everything You Need to Know to Eat Healthfully and Live Compassionately in the Real World—and today, New York City resident Victoria Moran has also been named the female winner of the 2016 Sexiest Vegan Over 50 contest held by PETA Prime, a resource for baby boomers who want to follow a healthy, humane, and rewarding lifestyle. Moran beat out eight other finalists to win a photo shoot at PETA’s Bob Barker Building in Los Angeles and a gift basket packed with treats from the PETA Catalog.

“Every day, Victoria Moran captures hearts, opens minds, and impresses taste buds in order to make the world a more compassionate place for animals,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA is recognizing her for being both a tireless advocate for animals and living proof that vegan eating is key to staying fit, healthy, and active.”

A vegan for 32 years, Moran is the author of a dozen hit books promoting compassionate living—including Creating a Charmed Life and The Love-Powered Diet, plus a new cookbook in the works—and is the founder and director of Main Street Vegan Academy, a unique program that trains and certifies vegan lifestyle coaches. In addition to hosting her weekly “Main Street Vegan” podcast and speaking at events across the country, she’s working on two upcoming projects—Miss Liberty, a feature film about a cow who escapes from a slaughterhouse, and The Compassion Project, a documentary exploring a vegan lifestyle from a spiritual perspective.

In her downtime, Moran enjoys whipping up delicious cruelty-free dishes—mushroom stroganoff and raw chocolate cake are among her favorites—and spending time with her husband, daughter, and rescued dog, Forbes.

The male winner of this year’s contest is Detroit cardiologist Dr. Joel Kahn, author of The Whole Heart Solution and owner of GreenSpace Café. PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—selected the winners based on several factors, including vote count.
