PETA Seeks Information on Culprit Who Attacked Family’s Beloved Companion With Crossbow

On the morning of October 21, a Hancock family discovered a horrifying sight on the front porch of their home in the 13700 block of Orchard Ridge Road: Their beloved 3-year-old dog, Bronx, had been shot in the chest with a crossbow. His injury was so severe that he was bleeding profusely and gasping for air, and he died before the family could get him to a veterinarian. Police are investigating but have yet to make any arrests in the case, prompting PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—to offer a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this crime.

“It’s hard to imagine the terror and agony that this dog felt when he was shot in the chest and then left to bleed to death,” says PETA Vice President Colleen O’Brien. “PETA cautions families never to leave dogs unattended outside, where they can be attacked by other animals and cruel humans.”
