PETA Joins Police in Search for Culprit(s) Who Bagged Up and Burned Small Dog

When firefighters responded to a fire in northeast Baltimore just after midnight on July 27, they made a horrifying discovery: Someone had apparently put a small terrier mix in a trash bag and then set the bag on fire. Police have yet to make any arrests in connection with the incident, prompting PETA to offer a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and the cruelty-to-animals conviction of anyone who may have been responsible for killing this dog.

“This community needs to know whether this dog was dead or alive when he was put in a garbage bag and set on fire, because a dog abuser may be at large and strike again,” says PETA Vice President Colleen O’Brien. “PETA urges anyone who has information about who had this dog in their possession and how he died to come forward now.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—cautions families to keep an eye on animal companions when they’re outside and never leave them unattended in the backyard.
