Air China Airlines Refuses to Fly Primates to Laboratories!
July 2012
Following a vigorous PETA campaign that included complaints to the government, thousands of e-mails and phone calls, and public protests, Air China—the largest airline in China and the country’s flagship carrier—announced that it was joining dozens of other leading airlines by refusing to transport monkeys to laboratories.
Prior to the announcement, PETA’s complaints to the U.S. Department of Agriculture regarding Air China’s unsafe handling of laboratory-bound monkeys resulted in citations and an official warning against the airline for violating federal animal protection law.
