Recently, outdoors shows, hunting clubs, and trophy hunters, including Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, have received packs of complimentary Huntsman Condoms, camouflage-wrapped prophylactics that boast that they are “a piece of safety equipment that makes no compromises on pleasure or performance.” But a new video reveals the condoms’ surprising source: PETA.

PETA distributed the condoms, with one aim: to encourage hunters to stop reproducing and let hunting go the way of the great auk and passenger pigeon. The number of hunters in the United States has already declined sharply, with the vast majority of hunters now middle-age or older men, so we thought we’d help the trend continue.

“Hardly any kids hunt these days,” says PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. “And if PETA’s condoms have prevented even one more wretched hunter from being born, we have succeeded in saving the lives of deer, birds, and other living beings.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—notes that hunters kill millions of animals every year and have contributed to the extinction of species all over the world, including the Tasmanian tiger and the great auk. Numerous animals are injured but not killed by hunters, escaping only to die slowly and painfully from blood loss and starvation. Cecil the lion, for example, was shot with a steel arrow and left to suffer for 40 hours before he was finally killed.
