‘Unstoppable’ PETA President to Kick Off New Speaking Tour in Ft. Lauderdale

PETA President Ingrid Newkirk will reveal what it means to be an unstoppable force for animals in a special address in Fort Lauderdale designed to help people understand PETA’s motto: “Animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way.” The event, which will kick off Newkirk’s international tour titled Unstoppable, includes a special presentation of the 2016 Nanci Alexander Activist Award to Keegan Kuhn, co-director of the documentary film Cowspiracy, presented by none other than Nanci Alexander, PETA honorary director and owner of Sublime Restaurant & Bar.

“A hen in an egg-factory cage, an elephant in a circus boxcar, and a monkey in laboratory restraints have no recourse but to rely on compassionate people to speak up,” says Newkirk. “PETA is here to share how sticking our necks out for animals can change the world.”

Newkirk and PETA are no strangers to South Florida. Among other efforts, the group recently released Real Housewives of Miami star Joanna Krupa’s provocative anti-wool campaign, launched an ad campaign starring the Miami Dolphins’ Jarvis Landry, erected a billboard highlighting the cruelty of the exotic-skins industry, and has continued to call for the release of the orca Lolita from the tiny tank at the Miami Seaquarium.
