The Epic Twitter Backlash Against Canada Goose

Unfortunately for outdoor clothing retailer Canada Goose, the world recently discovered a viral video showing the shocking cruelty of fur trapping, which is often how the company obtains the fur that’s used to line the hoods of some of its coats. This led to a firestorm of angry tweets and Facebook comments targeting the brand.

Though it is hard, you can watch for yourself what coyotes caught in cruel, leghold traps endure before becoming a piece of a Canada Goose coat:

Fortunately for everyone else (you know, people with a conscience), the video has reaffirmed for many–and definitively convinced others–that animals shouldn’t suffer and die for clothing.

Here are just a few examples of what outraged consumers had to say to Canada Goose after seeing the video:

Inundated with negative comments on social media, the brand took to Facebook to post the following in a last-ditch effort to slow the bleed:

In response to the recent campaign from PETA, we know and deeply respect that whether or not people want to wear fur is…

Canada Goose seemingly wants you to believe that it only uses fur from animals “for function, not fashion.” But as the more than 16 million people who watched PETA’s video already know, it is painfully apparent that terrified coyotes whose legs are stuck in traps don’t care WHY Canada Goose kills animals–they just want to live.

Coyotes and birds suffer and die to trim or stuff some of Canada Goose’s jackets. To learn more about the cruelty behind the fur and down sewn into its outerwear, click here.

Share the video above. Post your own tweet. Let your friends and family know that you WON’T be supporting Canada Goose as long as it continues to use animals for clothing. Coyotes and geese bear fur and feathers for their OWN function, not for Canada Goose.

And remember: There is no need to use animals to construct a quality jacket. Be sure to check out these cruelty-free coats to keep you warm.
