Baby Dolphin Dies After Being Pulled From Ocean for Selfies
In a horrifying scene documented on social media, a young dolphin was pulled from the ocean by tourists eager to snap a picture with the animal.
After the animal was dragged from his or her ocean home, beachgoers in Buenos Aires passed the dolphin around the crowd, offering the animal no protection from the hot sun. The dolphin reportedly died after the incident.

Dolphins are highly intelligent, sensitive, and self-aware individuals. They live in close-knit family units with dedicated mothers who may nurse their young for up to 10 years. One can only imagine the trauma experienced not only by this baby, who was passed around like a toy by marauding tourists, but also by his or her grieving mother.
After the incident, reports indicate that the animal’s body was unceremoniously discarded on the beach. With the photos already taken and probably uploaded to the tourists’ social media accounts, the baby dolphin apparently served no more purpose for the beachgoers.
PETA urges Argentinian authorities to work diligently to find and arrest those responsible and reminds all tourists to leave wildlife in peace.
