Just in time for Valentine’s Day, actor Bellamy Young stars in a brand-new PETA campaign, shot by top celebrity photographer Mike Ruiz, in which she appears in a sexy red dress, lounging on a bed of fresh vegetables next to the words “Being Vegan Keeps Me Young.”
Young also sat down for an exclusive PETA video interview, which offers a behind-the-scenes peek at some of the other looks (including a cabbage headdress!) that she tried on for the photo shoot. “That little, small voice in your mind and in your heart that makes you curious about being vegan is something you should listen to,” she says in the video, “because that’s the sound of your conscience making you be compassionate.”
Each person who goes vegan saves approximately 100 animals every year from daily abuse and a terrifying death in today’s industrialized meat, egg, and dairy industries. And going vegan can give your health a boost, too: Vegans are less prone to heart disease, obesity, cancer, and strokes than meat-eaters are.
Young joins a growing list of celebrities—including Casey Affleck, Mayim Bialik, Emily Deschanel, Joaquin Phoenix, RZA, Alicia Silverstone, and many others—who’ve promoted healthy and humane meat-free meals with PETA, whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat.”
