It’s 2016, and one thing is certain: Public support for using animals in entertainment is tanking. People are staying away from marine theme parks. Circuses are dropping animal acts. Zoos are closing their elephant displays.

So why is online discounter Groupon continuing to offer promotions to SeaWorld, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, UniverSoul Circus, the Miami Seaquarium, and other abusive animal acts?

As a Groupon shareholder, PETA is asking the company’s board of directors that very question. By submitting a shareholder resolution, we are calling for a permanent policy against promotions involving animals used for entertainment.

Groupon is not heeding public sentiment: SeaWorld’s stock has plummeted, and legislators have introduced various state and federal bills that would ban captive orca breeding, prohibit the weapons that trainers use to beat elephants, and make exotic-animal displays illegal.

By continuing to promote abusive, exploitative outfits in spite of overwhelming evidence of cruelty, Groupon is endorsing businesses that subject animals to a lifetime of deprivation and suffering.

What You Can Do

Let Groupon know that you won’t be buying any of its deals until it stops supporting animal abuse.
