PETA presents the adorable video of Nero, a “puggle” (a pug-beagle mix) who was whisked to a new life indoors on Christmas Eve after a miserable life of hunger, thirst, and neglect at the end of a heavy chain. Nero had nothing to call home when he was found severely malnourished and dehydrated by fieldworkers at PETA. He lived in a muddy backyard with nothing but a dilapidated doghouse for shelter, and a metal chain weighed down his neck. After being given to PETA, whose motto reads in part that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way,” he immediately took to his rescuers, napping with his feet in the air on the ride back to PETA’s shelter, and his glee just after a desperately needed bath—likely his first—has to be seen to be believed. You can check out the adorable video here. Nero is currently staying in a foster home and is up for adoption at PETA.
