YouTube Star, Dairy-Free Cheese, and Others Win Big in PETA2 Awards

The 10th Annual ‘Libby’ Awards Honor Teens’ Favorite Animal-Friendly Stars, Snacks, Stores, and More

Every year, peta2, PETA’s youth division, recognizes the best, brightest, and most animal-friendly companies, celebrities, and activists—and the 21 categories in the 10^th Annual Libby Awards (“Libby” is short for “liberation”—as in animal liberation) are honoring everything and everyone, from creamy mac and “cheese” to animal rights campaigners.

“Young people today are passionate about animal rights, and they want the designers of the clothes they wear and the celebrities they love to share this passion,” says Senior Director Marta Holmberg. “Every one of peta2’s winners is staying on-trend by making the world a better place for animals.”

peta2’s Hero of the Year for Animals is Jona Weinhofen, the Australian musician whose hugely controversial anti-wool ad garnered tons of media coverage as well as backlash from the wool industry and even Australia’s minister for agriculture and water resources—but Weinhofen never backed down. Winning the Libby for Best Use of Internet Stardom for Animals is Skylar Stecker, who shares her favorite vegan snacks and cruelty-free cosmetics with her fans, and this year’s Best Voice for Animals is RZA, the legendary rapper who promotes a better day for animals by choosing vegan meals.

This year’s food category winners include Jamba Juice (Most Vegan-Friendly Chain), Field Roast (Best Vegan Cheese), Daiya (Best New Vegan Food Item), and So Delicious (Best Vegan Dessert). In the fashion categories, winners include H&M (Most Animal-Friendly Clothing Company), Kat Von D Beauty (Best Cruelty-Free Cosmetics Company), and Every Man Jack (Best Vegan “Dude” Product).

Visitors to peta2.com/Libbys cast votes to help peta2 decide whom it would choose as Libby Award winners. peta2—whose motto reads, “Animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way”—based its selections on several factors, including vote count.
