Another Beluga Dies Under SeaWorld’s Care
Adding to the death toll at SeaWorld, a 2-year-old captive-bred beluga named Stella died this weekend at SeaWorld San Antonio. Although the cause of this beluga’s untimely death has not been determined, it can be added to a tally of at least 58 beluga deaths at SeaWorld locations. SeaWorld and other aquariums have proven again and again that belugas cannot successfully be bred in tiny concrete tanks where they are denied everything that is natural and important to them.

She was only two years old & could have lived DECADES longer. This isn’t the first young beluga SeaWorld lost this year. http://peta.vg/1o3d

Facilities like SeaWorld have desperately tried to import belugas captured from the wild, as Stella’s parents were. Like the others before her, she died far, far short of the 50 years that belugas can live in their natural ocean homes, and her preventable death is one of the many reasons why PETA is calling for an end to SeaWorld’s deadly beluga-breeding program.
What You Can Do
Please don’t visit marine parks, zoos, or aquariums that keep ocean animals in captivity. Encourage your local aquarium to create more space for rehabilitating (and releasing) injured wildlife by refusing to breed or bring in any more animals.
