In a recent sit-down with Conan O’Brien, actor Jesse Eisenberg talked about his family’s compassionate Thanksgiving tradition. The Eisenberg family opts for a vegan feast to honor the animals they’re saving by leaving them off their plates.
Turkeys are social, intelligent creatures who enjoy having their feathers stroked. However, the birds who end up as Thanksgiving dinners spend five to six months on factory farms, where thousands of them are packed into dark sheds before they’re slaughtered. Turkeys are genetically bred to grow as fast as possible, and they often become crippled under their own weight. Their suffering is certainly nothing to give thanks for.
Join Jesse’s family in leaving turkey off your plate this Thanksgiving. Which meat-free dishes will you be making this holiday season?
