Eighteen-year-old singer Ian Thomas is teaming up with peta2—PETA’s youth division—in an exclusive new ad and video, in which the Belgian heartthrob reveals what inspired him to drop meat and dairy foods for tasty vegan meals, along with his secret to an ideal date.
In his interview, available here, Thomas explains, “I was watching videos, and in the sidebar, a video popped up about veganism, and I clicked it, and I started watching, not knowing what was about to happen. And I was completely blown away.”
He also credits vegan eating with giving him an increased sense of well-being and better health. “The thing that I like about veganism is that it’s a win-win for everything, everybody, everyone. Whether it’s the planet, the animals, your body, [or] how you feel.”
On average, vegans are less prone to developing heart disease, cancer, obesity, and diabetes than meat-eaters are—and as Thomas says, swapping fat-laden meat and dairy foods for healthy, delicious animal-free meals feels great inside and out. “I love fruits, veggies, the animals, the planet,” he says. “I’m all about spreading them good vibes. … And my body feels amazing.” And any would-be paramours should be prepared to eat vegan on the first date—he says, “It’s either me cooking for her, or I’m taking her to the best vegan restaurant out there.”
Thomas is part of a long list of musicians, artists, and other celebrities—including Fifth Harmony, Little Mix, Jhené Aiko, and Kid Ink—who have teamed up with peta2 to promote animal protection.
