As the world marks the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, this video and blog post from PETA shares the touching stories of some of the many dogs, cats, birds, and even pigs PETA rescued from flooded, abandoned homes in the aftermath of the historic storm.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—also reminds our blog readers of the importance of always including animals in disaster-preparedness and evacuation plans.
