Thirteen-year-old singer-songwriter Skylar Stecker is making huge waves, with more than 26 million views on YouTube and her debut album, This Is Me, set to drop in September. So where does the “Rooftop” singer get all her energy? From vegan food, of course! And in a new video for peta2—PETA’s youth division—Skylar shares how to prepare one of her favorite vegan snacks: nachos loaded with veggie chili, beans, dairy-free cheese, and fresh guacamole.
“[T]he great thing about these are they’re quick, they’re easy, no animals were harmed, and they’re 100 percent vegan. And they are delicious,” she says right before taking a gleeful bite.
Skylar also takes viewers on a tour of her closet, showing off her dedication to animal-friendly fashion, including a faux-fur vest (“no animals were harmed in the making of this”) and a wide variety of peta2 gear, such as her anti-SeaWorld T-shirt that says “Boycott SeaWorld” on the back (because “SeaWorld is ‘boo’”). Her beauty routine is just as kind to animals as her wardrobe is—cruelty-free cosmetics brands like Too Faced are prominently displayed on her vanity.
“[S]ince I’ve gone vegan, I’ve felt like I’ve made a difference in the world,” Skylar says. She’s now part of a long list of celebrities—including Daniella Monet, Kesha, Jordyn Jones, Fifth Harmony, P!nk, Noah Cyrus, Sia, and many others—who’ve teamed up with peta2 to promote the group’s motto: Animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way.
