As baseball fever sweeps the nation, there’s good news for animal-friendly Giants fans: PETA’s list of the Top 10 Vegetarian-Friendly Ballparks of 2015 has rocketed AT&T Park straight to the number six spot. Fans rave about the Field Roast vegan frankfurter, artisan hand-formed veggie burger, portobello mushroom sandwich, and roasted summer-vegetable sandwich. Other favorites include the vegan marinated-olive tray, tasty vegetable tacos, and the vegan Cha-Cha bowl served with rice, beans, and veggies.
“From its edamame to its vegetable pot stickers, AT&T Park offers a powerful lineup of cruelty-free fare to meet any fan’s tastes,” says Kenneth Montville, PETA’s senior campaign strategist. “Each park ranked in PETA’s top 10 offers a tasty variety of veg-friendly foods that are helping to set the standard for parks across the country.”
The Los Angeles Dodgers’ Dodger Stadium took top honors, followed by the Philadelphia Phillies’ Citizens Bank Park in second, the Washington Nationals’ Nationals Park in third, the San Diego Padres’ Petco Park in fourth, and the New York Mets’ Citi Field in fifth. Rounding out the top 10 are the Pittsburgh Pirates’ PNC Park, the Colorado Rockies’ Coors Field, the Boston Red Sox’s Fenway Park, and the Chicago White Sox’s U.S. Cellular Field.
PETA also ranked the top vegetarian-friendly AA minor league ballparks. Leading the pack is the New Britain Rock Cats’ New Britain Stadium, followed by the Tulsa Drillers’ ONEOK Field, the Biloxi Shuckers’ MGM Park, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos’ Pensacola Bayfront Stadium, and the Erie SeaWolves’ Jerry Uht Park.
AT&T Park will receive a framed certificate from PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat.”
