The Most Expensive Dish From France
If you were a goose or duck on a foie gras farm, this is what would happen to you:
You might live in a cage so small that you couldn’t lift a single wing.
You’d have to stand amid your own waste.
You would be too sick and stressed to clean your own feathers, leaving your body filthy and caked in excreta.
You could even die from a damaged esophagus, an infection, impaired liver function, or choking on your own vomit. You would likely receive little veterinary care, if any.
You’d have a pipe jammed down your throat and be force-fed more grain than you could ever eat on your own.
Your liver would become engorged and diseased.
Once your liver swelled to up to 10 times its normal size, you’d be sent to the slaughterhouse.
You might survive the electric stunner and still be conscious when a worker hangs you to slit your throat.
Your fatty liver would then be removed and sold for human consumption at the ultimate price: your life. If you were a duck or a goose, you wouldn’t want anyone to eat foie gras.
