On Saturday, more decapitated animals were reportedly found along Sacramento’s light-rail tracks—the latest in more than a dozen similar incidents so far this year. Saturday’s discovery included a goat, a rat, and a catfish who were beheaded as well as a bag full of dead chickens whose bodies were found on 26th Avenue between 24th Street and Franklin Boulevard.

Sacramento authorities reportedly have an eyewitness and surveillance footage of the latest incident but have yet to make any arrests, prompting PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—to offer a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction (on cruelty-to-animals charges) of whoever is responsible for these crimes.

“Dozens of animals have been killed and mutilated, and all animals are in danger as long as the perpetrator is still at large,” says PETA Senior Director Colleen O’Brien. “PETA is urging anyone with information about the attacker or attackers to come forward immediately—before anyone else gets hurt.”

Anyone with information about this case should contact Gina Knepp of Sacramento Animal Care Services at the Front Street Animal Shelter at 916-808-8333.
