Surveillance footage shows that on April 25, a man entered Aurora resident Michelle Cuellar’s yard, sprayed the family’s three dogs with an unknown chemical, and then returned hours later to beat the smallest dog, 1-year-old Roo, with a golf club. The suspect chased Roo into the home and then apparently took her out in a plastic trash bag, potentially injured or dead.
Police have yet to make any arrests in connection with the incident, prompting PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—to offer a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for this crime. Metro Denver Crime Stoppers is also offering a reward of up to $2,000.
“This dog experienced immense fear and pain during an apparently premeditated, violent attack that may have ended in her death,” says PETA Senior Director Martin Mersereau. “PETA is urging anyone with any information to come forward immediately, before this sadistic culprit hurts anyone else.”
Anyone with information about this case should contact the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office at 303-795-4711.
