PETA will be at the Saturday’s National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade with an eye-catching bevy of beautiful “flowers”—five young women dressed in green fishnets, sparkly green heels, festive lamé tops, and gigantic bright pink petals. The blossom beauties will hold signs in English and Japanese that encourage, “Nip Cruelty in the Bud: Go Vegan,” as they and other PETA supporters distribute vegan starter kits to passersby.

“Spring is the perfect time to turn over a new leaf and go vegan,” says PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk. “PETA’s motto reads, in part, that ‘animals are not ours to eat,’ and we encourage everyone to give healthy, kind, and eco-friendly plant-based meals a try.”
