Flag-Painted PETA Supporters Protest Globally Condemned Seal Slaughter
With their nearly nude bodies painted to resemble the flags of France, Germany, Mexico, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States—just a handful of the dozens of countries that have banned seal fur—six PETA supporters protested outside the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C., on Friday, ahead of the first day of Canada’s annual commercial seal slaughter, which is scheduled to begin on Sunday. PETA entities are also planning protests at other Canadian embassies around the world.
The world is turning its back on seal products, and the only thing that appears to be keeping this year’s slaughter afloat is a $2 million bailout loan from the Newfoundland and Labrador government. The end of the sealing industry is in sight, but seals still need your help! Please take a minute today to ask the Canadian government to do the right thing by ending this annual massacre for good.
