$2,500 Reward Offered in Dog Dumping Case

On March 26, dozens of puppies and dogs were abandoned on the side of Pratt Whitney Road in rural Martin County. The small dogs were in terrible condition, suffering from fleas, parasites, missing teeth, and skin conditions. Although 29 dogs have been rescued and are receiving veterinary care—and will soon be available for adoption from the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast—law-enforcement officials have yet to determine who abandoned them.
That’s why PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this crime.
“Abandoning dozens of puppies and dogs on the side of the road like garbage demonstrates a blatant disregard for others’ suffering,” says PETA Director Martin Mersereau. “PETA is urging anyone with any information to come forward immediately, before this culprit hurts someone else.”
