While Craig and Elisa White were at church on the evening of March 21, an unknown assailant reportedly doused the Fort Lauderdale family’s beloved dog, Blu, with scalding-hot grease or oil, leaving him with excruciatingly painful third-degree burns that proved to be fatal days later. Police have yet to make any arrests in connection with the incident, prompting PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—to offer a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this crime.
“This beloved dog suffered the agony and terror of dying from burns so severe that his eyes swelled shut and his skin rotted on his body as the result of apparently premeditated cruelty,” says PETA Senior Director Martin Mersereau. “PETA is urging anyone with any information to come forward immediately, before the sadistic culprit or culprits hurt anyone else.”
Anyone with information about this case should contact Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
