Four-year-old Orlando resident Roger Warren has been named one of the top four male finalists in PETA Kids’ 2015 Cutest Vegan Kids contest—and now it’s up to voters to help PETA Kids decide whether it should select him to take home the top prize. Two winners—one girl and one boy—will each receive a trophy, a cruelty-free prize pack, and a year’s worth of bragging rights.
When Roger and his family learned about the plight of animals abused for meat, eggs, and dairy products, they went vegan and never looked back. Now a proud broccoli and vegan macaroni and cheese aficionado, Roger won’t hesitate to share his kind choice—and tasty animal-free foods—with friends and family. When he’s not feeding or playing with rescued canine pal Newman, Roger is helping with his dad’s triathlete podcasts and rocking out to Psy’s “Gangnam Style.”
“Animals are lucky to have a friend in Roger, whose love for tasty vegan foods is an inspiration to people of all ages,” says PETA Director of Youth Outreach and Campaigns Marta Holmberg. “All the kids who entered the contest are winners in PETA Kids’ book because they’ve made the switch to healthier, animal-friendly foods.”
More and more people go vegan every year. Besides the indisputable health benefits of ditching meat and other unhealthy animal products, vegans, on average, have a smaller carbon footprint than their meat-eating counterparts, and each vegan saves the lives of more than 100 animals each year.
Voting on the finalists to help PETA Kids decide whom it should choose as the winners runs until April 10, and the two winners will be announced on April 13. PETA Kids, whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat,” will select the winners based on several factors, including vote count. See the full contest details here.
