Just in time for Valentine’s Day, a trio of apeeling PETA members—two “banana girls” wearing short yellow dresses and a “banana boy” in sexy yellow briefs—will converge on Victoria with a towering pile of the fresh fruit to hand out to passersby. Bearing heart-shaped signs proclaiming that anyone can “get a rise out of veganism,” the sexy trio will point out that eating meat can cause impotence and other health issues that put a damper on time in the bedroom.
When: Friday, February 13, 12 p.m.
Where: In front of The Bay Centre, 1150 Douglas St., Victoria
“What goes on in the kitchen has a lot to do with what goes on—or doesn’t—in the bedroom,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA’s message is that whether you’re after a sizzling physique or an increase in stamina, ditching meat and dairy products for good is a great way to boost performance.”
The cholesterol in meat, eggs, and dairy products contributes to hardening of the arteries and can slow the flow of blood to all the body’s organs, not just to the heart. Eating meat and other animal products is conclusively linked to heart disease, strokes, diabetes, obesity, and several types of cancer.
As documented by PETA, whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat,” chickens, cows, and pigs are denied all that is natural and important to them, and they’re castrated, ear-notched, and debeaked without any painkillers whatsoever.
