Black Keys Donate ‘Howlin’ for You’ to PETA’s Adoption Campaign

Grammy Winners Help PETA Boost Shelters in Musical PSA in Behalf of Homeless Animals

The Black Keys have granted the rights to their song “Howlin’ for You” to PETA to use for free in an ad promoting animal adoption. The seven-time Grammy Award winners (who are up for three additional awards this weekend) have in the past sued companies such as Home Depot and Pizza Hut for unauthorized use of their music in ads and, for the first time, are donating the use of a song.

Available here, the 30-second spot features a wide variety of PETA members playing with their dogs and cats, including Fred Willard, Jillian Michaels, and Raven from RuPaul’s Drag Race, and proclaims, “Someone’s howlin’ for you at your local shelter. Please adopt.”

“If you’re looking for a furry roommate, check out an animal shelter,” says The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney. “They’re filled with purebreds and mutts who’d love to be adopted.”

The Black Keys are the latest musicians to donate music to PETA for public-service announcements. Others include Morrissey, Chrissie Hynde, Dolly Parton, and Loretta Lynn.
