“I couldn’t bear the thought of having my children torn away from me. At SeaWorld, this happens time and time again,” Holly Marie Combs says in her new video for PETA slamming the amusement park. “Orca family members belong together at home in the ocean, not isolated in tiny tanks at SeaWorld. If you believe that a mother should never have to know the pain of having her child torn away from her, boycott SeaWorld.”

Pretty Little Liars star and San Diego native Holly Marie Combs is the latest celebrity to go after SeaWorld for its confinement of orcas and other marine animals. She stars in a new PETA video in which the mother of three calls on moms everywhere to keep their families far away from SeaWorld—for the sake of all mothers. In the video, Combs describes how baby orcas at SeaWorld are often separated from their mothers, breaking a bond that, in nature, can last a lifetime for these sensitive, intelligent animals.

Fewer and fewer families are buying tickets to SeaWorld. After the release of Blackfish—which reveals how orcas at SeaWorld are deprived of everything that’s natural and important to them, leading them to become frustrated and exhibit deadly aggression—attendance at SeaWorld parks dropped 13 percent, sponsors cut ties with the park, and the company was named one of the worst in the U.S. in a Consumerist poll. At least 25 orcas have died in U.S. SeaWorld facilities since 1986—and not one died of old age. PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to use for entertainment”—is calling on SeaWorld to fund the creation of coastal sanctuaries where the orcas can live in as natural a setting as possible.

Combs joins a long list of celebrities—including Tommy Lee of Mötley Crüe, Jessica Biel, Laura Vandervoort, and Steve-O—who have teamed up with PETA to ask consumers to stay away from SeaWorld.
