Today’s animal rights advocates are young, hip, and, increasingly, male (look no further than Jared Leto, Russell Brand, and Sen. Cory Booker, to name just a few famous friends to animals). To tap into the growing market of men who want to live a healthy, humane lifestyle, PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat, wear, [or] experiment on”—is launching a brand-new section of its website, PETA.org, called “For Men.” The articles are full of guy-friendly tips, from the best vegan chicken wings and leather-free loafers to essays on winning arguments with hunters and interviews with plant-powered athletes and entrepreneurs.
Features in the new “For Men” section include tips for finding the perfect wool-free suit, leather-free shoes for the office, and grooming products that are never tested on animals. The site also focuses on fitness, highlighting vegan athletes such as Germany’s Strongest Man 2011, Patrik Baboumian. Visitors will also find information on plant-based protein sources and dairy-free sports-recovery products.
“Modern men care about animals, the environment, and their health, and this unique site provides them with the latest products, thinking, and tips to help them follow their conscience,” says general counsel to PETA Jeffrey Kerr. “Whether we’re shopping, working out, or catching a meal on the fly, the choices we make can have a positive impact.”
