Alicia Silverstone Asks Holiday Shoppers to Have a #WoolFreeWinter

With the holiday shopping season underway, I thought your readers might be interested in the blog post that Alicia Silverstone has just published on her website, TheKindLife.com, in which she asks readers to steer clear of scarves, sweaters, blankets, and other gifts made of wool—in other words, to have a #WoolFreeWinter (the name of the winter shopping campaign from PETA, whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear”).

In the post, Silverstone shares PETA’s shocking video of the wool trade, which reveals that sheep are cut to shreds, kicked, and punched by shearers.

“The sheep abusers can’t pull the wool over our eyes,” she writes. “Join me in taking the wool-free pledge and in making this a #WoolFreeWinter. It’s the only way we’ll ever save sheep from being treated as punching bags instead of the gentle, unique individuals they are.”
