$2,000 Reward Offered for Help in Nabbing Man Who Threw Puppy Over Fence

Friendly, Young Dog Finds a Happy New Home—but Her Abuser Is Still at Large

An unidentified man was caught on video roughly throwing a 6-month-old puppy over a fence at a commercial building near D Street on August 28. The dog—named Dolly by the San Diego Animal Services Department—survived the fall and has since been adopted by a Poway resident. But law-enforcement officials are still seeking the man shown in the video, who likely faces charges of animal abandonment and/or cruelty to animals. That’s why PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the man responsible for abusing and abandoning this dog.

“The look of betrayal on this dog’s face after someone she trusted picked her up, violently threw her over a fence, and left her behind is heartbreaking,” says PETA Director Martin Mersereau. “PETA urges anyone with information about this man to come forward now. He needs to face the court for what he did to this dog—and he needs to be stopped before he hurts anyone else.”

According to law-enforcement agencies and leading mental-health professionals, perpetrators of violent acts against animals are often repeat offenders who pose a serious threat to all animals—including humans.
