Tomorrow, for the first time ever, PETA will live-tweet from a Ringling Bros. show. PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to use for entertainment”—will point out to its more than 500,000 Twitter followers what an unsuspecting audience might not notice: the circus’s use of whips, bullhooks (weapons that resemble a fireplace poker with a sharp hook on one end), and “Wonder Dust” (a gray powder that covers up bloody wounds on elephants’ skin).
We’ll start live-tweeting the Bakersfield, Calif., opening show tomorrow evening at about 7 p.m. PT.
