With stars such as Anne Hathaway rocking custom vegan shoes on the red carpet and leather-free designers such as Stella McCartney hotter than ever, PETA is riding the rise of vegan fashion by hitting Los Angeles with the hottest pop-up retail event of the summer: its first-ever Vegan Fashion Shop-Up.
When: Saturday, August 23, 11 a.m.–6 p.m.
Where: The rooftop deck of PETA’s Bob Barker Building, 2154 W. Sunset Blvd. (near the intersection with Rosemont Avenue), Los Angeles
“PETA’s motto includes ‘animals are not ours to wear,’ and our shop-up will demonstrate how chic today’s cruelty-free clothing and accessories can be,” says PETA vegan fashion coordinator Christina Sewell. “Whether you’re looking for shoes, handbags, or jackets, it’s easier than ever to find killer looks that no one had to suffer for.”
Admission is completely free, and attendees will have the opportunity to meet and shop from dozens of cruelty-free designers who are taking the fashion world by storm, including PETA’s 2014 Most Influential Designer, Leanne Mai-ly Hilgart—the first all-vegan designer to show at New York Fashion Week—and Stephanie Nicora, who was named PETA’s 2014 Most Talented New Designer.
Freedom of Animals—the eco-friendly handbag line beloved by celebrities such as Kerry Washington and Sarah Jessica Parker—is providing a special-edition PETA handbag for the event’s raffle. Other prizes include Gabriela Artigas jewelry, a GUNAS handbag, and a limited-edition VAUTEdress. Other designers and retailers in attendance will include Sydney Brown, Nicora Johns, and Cri de Coeur, and select brands will offer adiscount of up to 20 percent for the day.
