At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, what is believed to be a group of people entered the private property of Jim and Angie Gilliland’s farm in Barrow County and shot a female alpaca named Sandi Lynn in the lung and shot a male llama named Patches twice in the abdomen and cut him from his ear down to his jaw, killing them both. The remaining animals were then chased across the property, knocking over an industrial fan in the process.
Officials have yet to make any arrests in connection with the killings. That’s why PETA is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this violent crime. PETA’s reward will be added to another reward offered within the community.
Would you please consider sharing this information with your audience? It might be the only way to apprehend those responsible for this heinous act.
“The cold-blooded killings of these animals were acts of extreme violence, and the perpetrators should be dealt with accordingly,” says PETA Director Martin Mersereau. “It’s imperative that these killers be apprehended and taken off the streets.”
Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact investigator James Wilkerson with the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office at 770-307-3080, extension 1108.
