PETA Offers up to $5,000 Reward for Help Finding Yonkers Cat Killer
Dozens of Animals Likely Bludgeoned to Death, Then Bagged and Hung From Trees

On April 24, Yonkers sanitation workers cleaning an empty lot reportedly discovered 25 cat carcasses in plastic bags strung up in trees. The cats—who ranged in age from small kittens to full-grown adults—appeared to have been beaten to death. A baseball bat, two shovels, and a metal pipe were found in the area. Police have yet to make any arrests in connection with the killings. That’s why PETA is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for these violent crimes.

“Cases such as this one show how vulnerable cats become when left outside to fend for themselves—the results can be deadly,” says PETA Director Martin Mersereau. “The community should be deeply concerned because studies show that those who commit violent acts against animals often go on to pose a serious threat to all animals, including humans.”
