Canadian College Allows Vet Tech Students to Opt Out of Harming Animals

After receiving a complaint from a distraught student, PETA contacted a college in Canada that was allegedly giving students failing grades for refusing to kill mice in a veterinary technology training course. Following productive discussions with PETA, the school agreed to allow veterinary technology students to opt out without academic penalty and to provide them with a humane alternative. PETA offered to purchase simulation tools for the school’s training program.
