University of Florida Voted Favorite Vegan-Friendly Large School in the U.S.

A good diet often means good grades, and apparently, no one knows that better than the University of Florida in Gainesville. That’s because after receiving an A on its Vegan Report Card from peta2, PETA’s youth division, Florida beat out some fierce competition—including Kent State University, the University of North Texas, and the University of South Florida—to be voted the Favorite Vegan-Friendly Large School in the U.S. It won by fewer than 50 votes, but that was enough to claim the title of undisputed champ.

“With stick-to-your ribs vegan dishes that would fool even the most die-hard carnivore, the University of Florida earned every forkful of its bragging rights,” says peta2 Director Marta Holmberg. “Every year, peta2 meets more and more students across the country who are protecting animals, the planet, and their own health by joining the vegan revolution.”

Sixteen large schools and 16 small schools were in this year’s competition. The 2014 winner in the small-school category is Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.

The University of Florida will receive several award certificates to display in various places on campus.
