PETA Statement re: Asmussen-Trained Horses Racing in Louisiana This Weekend

PETA is sending copies of its legal complaints concerning Steve Asmussen and his associates to the Louisiana Racing Commission today and calling on commissioners to take special precautions to protect Asmussen’s horses currently stabled at the Fair Grounds Race Course. Asmussen-trained horses are scheduled to race this Saturday, on Louisiana Derby Day, including Untapable in the Fair Grounds Oaks and Gold Hawk in the Louisiana Derby. We urge officials to review all veterinary records for Asmussen’s horses and to make sure that no horse who is unfit, injured, or sore be allowed to train or run.
